About the Role

Our client is looking for a seasoned Senior Chemical Engineer with extensive experience in production support to join their team in Polokwane. This role is critical for ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of their manufacturing facilities. You will be responsible for troubleshooting production issues, optimizing process parameters, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and product quality. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills and a practical understanding of plant operations in the chemical industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide immediate technical support to production teams, resolving process upsets and equipment issues promptly.
• Analyze production data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for optimization.
• Implement process improvements to increase throughput, reduce waste, and improve product consistency.
• Develop and update operating procedures, safety guidelines, and training materials for production staff.
• Collaborate with maintenance and engineering departments on equipment reliability and preventative maintenance programs.
• Lead small to medium-sized projects focused on improving existing production processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in a chemical plant production or operations environment.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex operational problems.
• Strong understanding of unit operations relevant to the company's manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency in data analysis and process improvement methodologies (e.g., "Six Sigma").
