Senior Backend Developer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Senior Backend Developer to join their engineering team in Mahikeng . You will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining the server-side logic and APIs that power our core products. This role demands strong problem-solving skills, a deep understanding of scalable architectures, and a commitment to writing clean, efficient code. You will collaborate with product managers, front-end developers, and other engineers to deliver robust and innovative software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend services and APIs.
• Write clean, efficient, well-documented, and thoroughly tested code using languages like Python , Java, or C#.
• Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
• Optimize applications for maximum speed, scalability, and reliability.
• Participate actively in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers and contributing to coding standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve bugs and performance issues in development and production environments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience in backend development.
• Strong proficiency in at least one modern backend programming language (e.g., Python , Java , Node.js, Go).
• Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB).
• Familiarity with microservices architecture and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns.
