Concept Artist - Game Development

About the Role

Our client, a leading game development studio, is seeking a talented Concept Artist to join their creative team in Nelspruit . You will be responsible for generating imaginative and visually compelling artwork that defines the aesthetic direction of their upcoming video games. This role requires exceptional artistic skill, creativity, and a passion for game development, bringing characters, environments, and props to life through your visual designs. You will collaborate closely with game designers, art directors, and other artists to establish the unique look and feel of game worlds, contributing to the immersive experience for players.

Key Responsibilities

• Create high-quality concept art for characters, environments, props, and visual effects for video games.
• Develop detailed sketches, mood boards, and final illustrations to define the visual style and atmosphere of game projects.
• Collaborate with the art director and game design team to iterate on concepts and ensure they meet project requirements and artistic vision.
• Explore and experiment with different artistic styles and techniques to push creative boundaries.
• Produce clear and detailed visual documentation to guide the 3D modeling and asset creation teams.
• Stay informed about industry trends, new artistic tools, and techniques in concept art and game development.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Concept Artist in the video game industry, supported by a strong portfolio showcasing relevant work.
• Proficiency in digital painting software such as Photoshop, Procreate, or similar.
• Strong understanding of anatomy, perspective, color theory, composition, and lighting.
• Ability to create diverse styles, from realistic to stylized, as required by project needs.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to provide and receive constructive feedback in the Nelspruit studio.
• A deep passion for video games and a strong understanding of game development pipelines.
