Mechanical Design Engineer - Product Development

About the Role

Our client is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer to focus on product development in Port Elizabeth . In this role, you will be responsible for bringing innovative product concepts to life, from initial ideation through to market launch. You will translate customer needs and market opportunities into robust, manufacturable mechanical designs, utilizing cutting-edge tools and methodologies. Key Responsibilities

• Conceptualize, design, and develop new mechanical products and components, ensuring functionality, aesthetics, and manufacturability.
• Utilize 3D CAD software to create detailed designs, prototypes, and production-ready drawings, focusing on product innovation .
• Conduct rigorous testing and validation of designs, including performance, durability, and safety assessments.
• Collaborate with industrial designers, electrical engineers, and manufacturing teams to ensure cohesive product development.
• Identify and implement design improvements to existing products to enhance performance, reduce cost, or improve user experience.
• Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and user manuals for new product development .

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in mechanical product design and development.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., Fusion 360, SolidWorks) and basic simulation tools.
• Strong understanding of various manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, machining, sheet metal fabrication).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, balancing on-site and remote responsibilities.
