Senior Electrical Systems Designer (Remote)

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Electrical Systems Designer to lead the design and development of sophisticated electrical systems. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to leverage your expertise from anywhere within South Africa . You will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and validating complex electrical architectures for innovative products and solutions. The role requires a deep understanding of system-level design, component selection, and performance optimization, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional, globally distributed teams. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural design of complex electrical systems, defining specifications and requirements.
• Develop detailed electrical schematics, P&IDs, and control system designs for various applications.
• Perform advanced electrical analysis, including power flow, transient stability, and safety integrity level (SIL) assessments.
• Select appropriate electrical components, hardware, and software, ensuring compatibility and optimal performance.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, and mechanical engineering teams to ensure integrated system design and functionality.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of design excellence and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in electrical system design, with a significant focus on complex, integrated systems.
• Expertise in power systems, control systems, automation, and instrumentation.
• Proficiency with advanced simulation and design software (e.g., ETAP, PSCAD, MATLAB/Simulink).
• Demonstrated experience leading design teams and managing technical aspects of large projects.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills, crucial for remote teamwork.
