Commercial Air Conditioning Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and dedicated Commercial Air Conditioning Technician to join their facilities management team in Sandton . This role is critical for the maintenance, repair, and installation of air conditioning systems in commercial buildings, ensuring optimal climate control and operational comfort for tenants and employees. You will be responsible for diagnosing complex HVAC issues, performing preventative maintenance, and executing efficient repairs to minimize downtime. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with commercial-grade systems and a strong commitment to quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, service, and repair commercial HVAC systems, including rooftop units, chillers, VRF systems, and associated ductwork.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance and inspections on all air conditioning equipment to ensure peak performance and energy efficiency.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using specialized diagnostic tools and meters.
• Conduct refrigerant recovery, leak detection, and system charging according to environmental regulations.
• Read and interpret HVAC schematics , blueprints, and technical manuals to guide installation and repair work.
• Ensure all installations and repairs meet industry standards and company quality benchmarks.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Commercial HVAC Technician .
• Strong knowledge of refrigeration cycles, airflow principles, and building automation systems.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical control systems and mechanical components of HVAC units.
• Possession of relevant trade certifications (e.g., F-Gas, EPA Universal) and a valid driver's license.
• Ability to work independently, manage service schedules effectively, and respond to emergency service calls.
