Well Operations Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a results-oriented Well Operations Engineer to join their field operations team near Nelspruit . This role focuses on the safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of well intervention, workover, and completion operations. You will be responsible for planning, designing, and supervising these critical activities, ensuring adherence to the highest technical and safety standards. This position offers a hands‑on opportunity to manage complex well operations within the challenging yet rewarding oil and gas environment of Mpumalanga , contributing directly to asset integrity and production enhancement.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and design well intervention, workover, and completion programs.
• Supervise rig site operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with procedures.
• Manage operational risks, including well control, equipment failures, and personnel safety.
• Optimize well performance through effective completion and intervention strategies.
• Coordinate with drilling, production, and HSE teams to ensure integrated operations.
• Prepare detailed operational reports, including post-job analysis and cost tracking.
• Ensure all operations comply with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in well operations , completions, or workovers.
• Strong understanding of wellbore hydraulics, formation evaluation, and artificial lift systems.
• Proven experience with rig site supervision and project management.
• Knowledge of relevant HSE regulations and best practices in the oil and gas industry .
• Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and leadership skills.
