About the Role
Our client seeks a skilled Civil Engineer with a strong background in geotechnical engineering to join their team in Mossel Bay, Western Cape . This role is critical for assessing ground conditions, designing foundations, and mitigating soil-related risks for a range of construction projects. You will play an integral part in ensuring the stability and safety of structures by providing expert geotechnical analysis and recommendations. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation design principles, with a proven ability to apply this knowledge to solve complex engineering challenges in diverse geological settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct site investigations, including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing, to determine soil and rock properties.
- Perform detailed geotechnical analyses for foundations, slopes, retaining walls, and earthworks.
- Develop comprehensive geotechnical reports with clear design recommendations and mitigation strategies.
- Liaise with clients, project managers, and contractors to communicate geotechnical findings and design requirements.
- Oversee the implementation of geotechnical aspects of construction projects, including earthworks and foundation construction.
- Stay abreast of advancements in geotechnical engineering techniques and technologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA is required.
- A minimum of 6 years of professional experience in geotechnical engineering .
- Proven experience in foundation design for buildings, bridges, or other civil infrastructure.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software (e.g., PLAXIS, GEO5) and CPT data analysis tools.
- Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and groundwater hydrology.
