Senior Flight Operations Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Flight Operations Officer to manage and oversee flight operations from their hub in Port Elizabeth . This hybrid role combines essential on-site coordination with remote planning and communication capabilities. You will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and punctual execution of all flight schedules, ensuring compliance with all aviation regulations and company policies. This position requires strong leadership, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure, liaising effectively with flight crews, maintenance, dispatch, and relevant authorities. Your contribution will be vital to maintaining seamless airline operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate daily flight operations, including flight planning, dispatch, and crewing.
• Monitor flight progress, weather conditions, and air traffic control information to ensure safe and timely operations.
• Liaise closely with flight crews , ground staff, and maintenance teams to resolve operational issues promptly.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable aviation regulations, company policies, and procedures.
• Develop and implement strategies to optimize operational efficiency and minimize delays.
• Act as a primary point of contact for air traffic control and regulatory bodies during operational hours.

Requirements

• Relevant degree or diploma in Aviation Management, Operations, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in flight operations or airline dispatch.
• Possession of a Flight Dispatcher license or equivalent certification.
• Strong knowledge of flight planning software, meteorology, and air traffic systems.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, high-pressure environment, both on-site and remotely.
