Operations Manager - Petrochemical Plant

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Operations Manager to lead their petrochemical plant operations in the vicinity of Stellenbosch . This senior role is responsible for the overall management of plant production, ensuring safety, efficiency, quality, and environmental compliance. You will lead a diverse team of professionals, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and manage budgets to achieve strategic operational goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in petrochemical operations management, excellent leadership skills, and a proven ability to manage complex industrial facilities. This position is critical to the company's success and growth in the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of daily plant operations, including production, maintenance, and safety.
• Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize plant performance and achieve production targets.
• Manage operational budgets, resource allocation, and capital expenditure planning.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing operations team.
• Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies like Lean or Six Sigma.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in petrochemical plant operations, with at least 3 years in a management role.
• Demonstrated experience in managing large operational teams and complex budgets.
• Strong understanding of process safety management and operational excellence principles.
• Excellent leadership, strategic thinking, and decision-making abilities.
• Willingness to reside in or commute to the Stellenbosch area.
