About the Role

Our client is seeking a reliable and skilled Generator Installation and Maintenance Technician to join their essential services team in Polokwane . This role is vital for ensuring the continuous operation of backup power systems for various commercial and industrial clients. You will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, routine maintenance, and repair of diesel and gasoline generators. The ideal candidate has a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems, possesses excellent diagnostic skills, and is committed to providing dependable service in the field. You will play a key role in maintaining critical infrastructure stability across Limpopo province.

Key Responsibilities

• Install new generator sets, including wiring, fuel lines, and exhaust systems, according to specifications.
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, and system checks.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults in generator engines and control systems.
• Conduct load bank testing and performance verification of generator units.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to generator power output, engine performance, and automatic transfer switches.
• Maintain accurate service reports, parts inventory, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Generator Technician or in a related mechanical/electrical field.
• Strong understanding of diesel and gasoline engines, electrical systems, and control panels.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment for generators.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
• A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are mandatory.
