Job description

Mventech Group is a dynamic and growing mining and resources consulting firm headquartered in Centurion, Gauteng. We partner with clients across project sites to deliver innovative, design-led, and technically rigorous consulting solutions. Our culture is built on expertise, integrity, and a commitment to developing the next generation of industry professionals. At Mventech, we live our tagline: Innovate · Design · Consult.

The Opportunity

As an EC&I Engineer - Package Specialisation, you will apply your electrical, control, and instrumentation (EC&I) expertise to lead the EC&I scope for equipment packages, ensuring vendor-supplied control systems integrate seamlessly with plant-wide systems. This role places you at the centre of package delivery, building specialist experience in vendor negotiations, systems integration, and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and manage EC&I scope for equipment packages, including motor control centres (MCCs), local control panels, and instrumentation.
  • Review vendor EC&I documentation, including control philosophies, cause and effect diagrams, and instrument datasheets, for compliance with project specifications.
  • Coordinate integration of package control systems with the plant's distributed control system (DCS) or programmable logic controller (PLC) architecture.
  • Support technical bid evaluations for EC&I package components during procurement.
  • Identify and resolve interface issues between package EC&I scope and site-wide electrical and control systems.
  • Participate in factory acceptance testing (FAT) and site acceptance testing (SAT) for package control systems.
  • Verify vendor compliance with relevant electrical and instrumentation standards throughout the design process.
  • Compile EC&I package handover documentation, including as-built drawings and control narratives.

You must have:

  • A Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) or Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSc Eng) in electrical, electronic, or instrumentation and control engineering.
  • A minimum of three years' experience in EC&I package engineering within a mining, minerals processing, or industrial environment.
  • Demonstrable experience working on mining projects, including underground mining operations.
  • Working knowledge of control system architectures, including PLC and DCS platforms.
  • Familiarity with relevant electrical and instrumentation design standards.

It would advantage you to have:

  • Registration as a Candidate Engineer or Professional Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
  • Experience with specific control system platforms used in the mining sector.
  • Exposure to EPCM project delivery environments.

Competencies and Attributes

  • Strong systems-integration thinking across control and electrical disciplines.
  • Rigour in reviewing vendor technical documentation for compliance.
  • Effective communicator across engineering, procurement, and vendor teams.
  • Sound troubleshooting ability during testing and commissioning phases.
  • Ability to manage multiple package interfaces concurrently without losing detail.

Why Join Mventech Group

At Mventech, you will work alongside experienced engineers on technically demanding projects across Southern Africa's mining and resources sector. We invest in the development of our people through structured mentorship, exposure to complex multidisciplinary projects, and support toward professional registration.

As a growing consulting firm, Mventech offers the scope to make a visible, direct impact: your work will shape how equipment and systems perform on site, not sit lost within a large organisational hierarchy. You will be trusted with real responsibility from an early stage in your career with us.

We are committed to a culture of technical excellence, integrity, and collaboration. Joining Mventech means joining a team that values precision, accountability, and the continuous pursuit of better engineering outcomes.
