About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Petrophysicist to join their technical team, supporting operations in the Mossel Bay region and beyond. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for the analysis of well log data to determine reservoir properties such as porosity, permeability, and fluid saturation, directly impacting resource evaluation and development decisions within the Oil & Gas sector. You will work closely with geologists, reservoir engineers, and drilling teams to provide critical insights into subsurface formations. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to leverage advanced analytical techniques and contribute to significant exploration and production projects. The ideal candidate possesses a keen eye for detail and a comprehensive understanding of rock and fluid properties.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and interpret wireline and LWD/MWD logs for formation evaluation.
- Determine reservoir parameters, including lithology, porosity, permeability, and water saturation.
- Integrate petrophysical data with geological and engineering information for comprehensive reservoir characterization.
- Calibrate log responses using core data and established petrophysical models .
- Assist in the selection of completion and production strategies based on log analysis.
- Contribute to reserve estimations and uncertainty assessments.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geoscience, Physics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience as a Petrophysicist in the Oil & Gas industry.
- Proficiency with industry-standard petrophysical software (e.g., Techlog, GeoGraphix).
- Strong understanding of logging tools, data acquisition, and data quality control.
- Experience with core analysis integration and interpretation.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
