Senior Mechanical Engineer - Product Development

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their fully remote product development team, supporting their operations based in Port Elizabeth . This role is centered around the innovation and design of new mechanical products, driving them from conceptualization through to market readiness. You will leverage your expertise in mechanical design, materials, and manufacturing processes to create robust, user-centric solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design of new products, from concept generation to detailed design and prototyping.
• Conduct feasibility studies, material selection, and performance analysis for new product concepts.
• Develop and refine CAD models and engineering drawings for manufacturing and assembly.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional remote teams, including industrial designers, electrical engineers, and software developers.
• Oversee product testing and validation to ensure designs meet performance and quality standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical design issues throughout the product development lifecycle.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in mechanical product design and development.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) and basic FEA understanding.
• Strong knowledge of various manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, machining, sheet metal fabrication).
• Excellent ability to work autonomously and manage multiple tasks in a remote setting.
• Superior communication and collaboration skills for effective remote teamwork, supporting the Port Elizabeth initiatives.
