Facilities Engineer - Upstream Operations

About the Role

Our client seeks a proactive Facilities Engineer to support their upstream operations in the Bloemfontein area. This role is responsible for ensuring the integrity, reliability, and safe operation of production facilities, including wellheads, separators, pipelines, and storage systems. You will play a key part in maintenance planning, troubleshooting operational issues, and implementing facility modifications to improve efficiency and compliance. Working within the Free State's growing energy sector, you will contribute to maintaining critical infrastructure for oil and gas production.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the maintenance, inspection, and repair of upstream production facilities and equipment.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and ensure asset integrity.
• Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues related to facility performance, safety, and environmental compliance.
• Manage small modification projects, including scope definition, contractor selection, and execution oversight.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
• Collaborate with production and drilling teams to support operational objectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities engineering, preferably within the upstream oil and gas sector .
• Strong knowledge of rotating and static equipment used in oil and gas production.
• Experience with maintenance management systems and procedures.
• Understanding of P&ID's, equipment specifications, and safety protocols.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, with regular visits to field locations near Bloemfontein .
