Civil Engineer - Water Resource Management

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Civil Engineer specializing in Water Resource Management to join their distributed team, contributing to projects across South Africa, with a focus on the Free State province. This role is instrumental in the planning, design, and implementation of sustainable water infrastructure solutions, including dams, pipelines, and treatment facilities. You will work remotely, collaborating with a national network of engineers and stakeholders to address critical water challenges. This position offers a unique opportunity to apply your expertise to vital environmental projects and contribute to water security across the region, leveraging a remote work setup.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop water infrastructure projects such as reservoirs, water treatment plants, pump stations, and distribution networks.
• Conduct hydrological studies, water balance analyses, and environmental impact assessments for water resource projects.
• Prepare detailed engineering designs, specifications, and construction cost estimates.
• Manage project execution from feasibility studies through to commissioning, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
• Collaborate effectively with government bodies, environmental agencies, and community groups to ensure project success.
• Oversee construction activities and provide technical guidance to site personnel when required, often via remote supervision and site visits.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Water Resources or Environmental Engineering.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in the design and management of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is essential.
• Proficiency in relevant hydraulic modeling software (e.g., EPANET, HEC-RAS) and CAD tools.
• Demonstrated experience in water resource planning and management, particularly within the South African context.
• Strong project management skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting, supporting projects in areas like Bloemfontein .
