About the Role
Our client is looking for a skilled Control Systems Engineer to join their remote team, supporting operations across various energy facilities. This role focuses on the design, implementation, and optimization of industrial control systems (ICS) and SCADA networks that ensure the safe and efficient operation of power generation and distribution assets. You will work with state-of-the-art technology to enhance system performance, reliability, and security. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to leverage their expertise in a remote setting, contributing to critical infrastructure from anywhere in the country, with occasional travel to facilities in regions like the Free State .
Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and commission Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
- Develop and maintain SCADA systems for remote monitoring and control of energy assets.
- Implement cybersecurity measures to protect industrial control systems from threats.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to control hardware, software, and networks.
- Collaborate with field engineers and operations teams to ensure seamless integration and performance.
- Develop and maintain system documentation, including P&IDs, functional specifications, and network diagrams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in industrial control systems engineering, with a focus on the energy sector.
- Proficiency with PLCs (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and SCADA software (e.g., Ignition, Wonderware).
- Strong understanding of networking protocols (e.g., Modbus, TCP/IP) and cybersecurity principles for ICs.
- Experience with system integration and database management.
- Excellent remote communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
