Aviation Safety Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and proactive Aviation Safety Officer to join their team in Stellenbosch, Western Cape . This role is integral to promoting and maintaining a robust safety culture throughout the organization. You will be responsible for implementing and overseeing the safety management system, conducting risk assessments, investigating incidents, and ensuring compliance with aviation safety regulations. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of aviation safety principles and a passion for creating a secure operational environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and manage the organization's Safety Management System (SMS).
• Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments across all operational areas.
• Investigate aviation safety incidents, accidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending preventative measures.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs to employees at all levels.
• Monitor regulatory changes and ensure the organization's compliance with aviation safety standards.
• Maintain safety records and prepare regular safety performance reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Safety Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in aviation safety or a similar regulatory compliance role.
• In-depth knowledge of aviation safety principles, risk management, and SMS frameworks.
• Experience in incident investigation and reporting procedures.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
