Cybersecurity Analyst - Threat Detection

About the Role

Our client is looking for a vigilant and skilled Cybersecurity Analyst specializing in threat detection to join their security operations center in Nelspruit . You will play a critical role in protecting the organization's digital assets by monitoring security alerts, investigating potential threats, and implementing preventative measures. This position offers a chance to work with advanced security tools and technologies in a dedicated security team, contributing to the safeguarding of sensitive data and systems. You will be part of a proactive security strategy, ensuring the resilience of our IT infrastructure against evolving cyber threats.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor security information and event management (SIEM) systems for suspicious activities and potential breaches.
• Investigate security alerts, incidents, and anomalies to determine their nature, scope, and impact.
• Perform forensic analysis and root cause investigation of security incidents.
• Develop and refine threat detection rules, signatures, and correlation logic within security tools.
• Respond to security incidents by following established protocols and coordinating with relevant teams.
• Stay informed about the latest cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation techniques.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in a cybersecurity role, with a focus on threat detection and incident response.
• Hands-on experience with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, QRadar, LogRhythm) and Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS).
• Strong understanding of network security principles, operating systems (Windows, Linux), and common attack vectors.
• Familiarity with security frameworks and best practices (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
