About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer specializing in the automotive sector to join their advanced engineering team in Stellenbosch . This role requires a deep understanding of automotive component design, materials, and manufacturing processes. You will be responsible for leading the design efforts for new automotive parts and systems, ensuring they meet stringent performance, safety, and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of complex automotive components and subsystems.
• Conduct rigorous stress, thermal, and vibration analysis using advanced simulation tools.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to ensure designs are optimized for mass production (DFM).
• Oversee testing and validation activities to confirm component performance and durability.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the technical growth of the design team.
• Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in the automotive industry.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in automotive component design.
• Expertise in 3D CAD software (e.g., CATIA , Siemens NX) and CAE tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus).
• In-depth knowledge of automotive materials, manufacturing processes, and industry standards.
• Strong project management and leadership skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
