About the Role
Our client is seeking a specialized Rotating Equipment Engineer with expertise in Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO) units to support their offshore operations based near Mossel Bay. This critical role involves ensuring the reliability, integrity, and optimal performance of all rotating equipment, including turbines, compressors, and pumps, essential for offshore oil and gas production. You will provide technical guidance, manage maintenance strategies, and troubleshoot complex issues to maintain operational continuity in a challenging marine environment. This is a vital position within the maritime and Oil & Gas sectors, based in the Western Cape.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed analysis and diagnostics of rotating equipment (turbines, compressors, pumps) on FPSO units.
- Develop and implement predictive and preventive maintenance programs for all rotating assets.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Provide technical support during equipment overhauls, installations, and commissioning.
- Manage vendor relationships for equipment supply, repair, and technical services.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, specifications, and safety regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in rotating equipment engineering, with a significant focus on offshore facilities or FPSOs.
- Strong understanding of various types of turbines, compressors, pumps, and their operational principles.
- Proficiency in vibration analysis, performance monitoring, and failure analysis techniques.
- Experience with relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., API, ASME).
- Ability to travel offshore and work effectively in a marine environment.
