Cost Accountant

Our client in the Agriculture Industry is seeking a Cost Accountant to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate cost allocation throughout the supply chain, preparing producer payments, reconciling key accounts.

Minimum Requirements

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field will be advantageous.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a financial accounting role, preferably within agriculture, fruit exports, or FMCG.
• Strong understanding of cost accounting and reconciliation processes.
• Experience with foreign currency transactions and banking processes will be advantageous.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and exposure to ERP/accounting systems such as Syspro and QX.
• Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
• High attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and explain financial information clearly.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the configuration and administration.
• Prepare and process producer payments and remittance statements accurately and timeously.
• Reconcile sales, commission, and general ledger accounts.
• Process commercial invoices and manage balance sheet control accounts.
• Assist with cash flow planning and foreign exchange transaction monitoring.
• Supervise foreign currency bank accounts and related currency contracts.
• Administer debtors and creditors in accordance with the company's policies and procedures.
• Maintain strong working knowledge of the company's operational and financial systems relevant to citrus packing and export activities.
• Monitor and interpret overseas market performance to support financial planning and reporting.
