Operations Manager - Power Generation

About the Role

Our client is seeking a strategic and results-driven Operations Manager to lead the operational activities of their power generation facilities in Pretoria. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of power generation facilities, ensuring optimal plant performance and energy output.
• Develop and implement operational strategies, procedures, and best practices to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
• Manage the maintenance and repair schedules for plant equipment, ensuring maximum uptime and reliability.
• Ensure strict adherence to all safety, health, and environmental regulations and company policies.
• Lead, train, and motivate a team of plant operators, technicians, and maintenance staff.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and generate regular operational reports for senior management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical) or a related field; an MBA is a plus.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in power plant operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Strong understanding of power generation technologies (e.g., thermal, hydro, renewable) and associated operational challenges.
• Proven experience in managing budgets, optimizing operational costs, and implementing process improvements.
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and safety standards in Gauteng.
