About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced and forward-thinking Chief Mining Engineer to lead their operations in Cape Town. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement long-term strategic mine plans and operational budgets.
- Oversee the design, construction, and commissioning of mining infrastructure and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Manage a team of mining engineers, supervisors, and operational staff, fostering a culture of high performance.
- Implement advanced mining technologies and methodologies to improve productivity and reduce costs.
Requirements
- BEng or BSc in Mining Engineering; a Master's degree is advantageous.
- Over 12 years of progressive experience in mining engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior management or leadership role.
- Extensive knowledge of open-pit and underground mining methods, mine design software, and production planning.
- Demonstrated experience in project management, risk assessment, and financial oversight of large mining projects.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a focus on the unique geological challenges of the Cape Town mining landscape.
