Senior Geologist - Mining Operations

About the Role

Our client, a prominent player in the mining industry, is seeking an experienced Senior Geologist to join their operational team in Rustenburg . This is a field-based role critical for resource exploration, evaluation, and mine planning. You will be responsible for conducting geological surveys, analyzing subsurface data, and providing expert recommendations to optimize resource extraction. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of geological principles and practical experience in mineral exploration and mining environments, contributing vital insights to our client's ongoing success.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed geological mapping and sampling programs to identify and delineate mineral resources.
• Analyze core samples, assay data, and geophysical information to assess ore body characteristics and grade distribution.
• Develop and refine geological models using specialized software, contributing to accurate resource estimation.
• Provide geological input for mine design, production planning, and operational optimization.
• Collaborate with mine engineers and surveyors to ensure efficient and safe extraction of mineral resources.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and geological interpretations for management and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology or a related Earth Science discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in exploration geology, preferably within the mining sector.
• Proficiency in geological modeling software (e.g., Leapfrog, Datamine, Vulcan).
• Strong understanding of structural geology, mineralogy, and geochemistry relevant to resource evaluation.
• Excellent field skills, including data collection, sampling techniques, and site supervision.
• Ability to work effectively in a challenging, on-site mining environment.
