About the Role
Our client is seeking a specialized Chemical Engineer with a focus on safety to join their operational team in Klerksdorp . This critical role involves ensuring the highest standards of safety are met across all chemical processes and facilities. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing safety protocols, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a strong safety culture. This position requires a deep understanding of process safety management, regulatory compliance, and hazard mitigation strategies. The successful candidate will be a key contributor to maintaining a safe and compliant working environment for all employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive process safety management (PSM) programs.
- Conduct thorough hazard identification, risk analysis (e.g., HAZOP, LOPA), and safety audits.
- Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with all national and international safety regulations and standards.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs for engineers and operational staff.
- Design and implement safety systems and interlocks for chemical processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering ; advanced degree or certification in Safety Engineering is a strong advantage.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in chemical process safety, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance.
- In-depth knowledge of PSM principles, including OSHA or equivalent.
- Experience with safety software and modeling tools.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex technical data.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
