Junior Process Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an enthusiastic Junior Process Design Engineer to join their innovative engineering department in Centurion . This role is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career professional looking to gain hands-on experience in the design and development of chemical processes for various industrial applications. You will work under the guidance of senior engineers, contributing to process simulations, equipment selection, and the creation of P&IDs. This position offers a fantastic foundation in chemical engineering design principles, with a focus on collaborative problem-solving within a supportive, hybrid work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist senior engineers in the design and development of chemical processes, including process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
• Perform process simulations using industry-standard software to evaluate process performance and identify design improvements.
• Contribute to the technical specifications and selection of process equipment such as reactors, pumps, and heat exchangers.
• Support the development of operating procedures and safety documentation for new and existing processes.
• Participate in process reviews and hazard identification studies.
• Maintain accurate records of design calculations, documentation, and project progress.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering .
• 0-3 years of relevant internship or co-op experience in process design or a related field.
• Familiarity with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, ChemCAD) is advantageous.
• Basic understanding of unit operations, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting.
