Remote Fleet Dispatcher

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and organized Remote Fleet Dispatcher to manage and coordinate vehicle and driver activities from the comfort of their home office, ideally situated near Cape Town . This pivotal role involves optimizing routing, ensuring efficient vehicle utilization, and maintaining real-time communication with drivers to guarantee on-time deliveries and pickups. You will be instrumental in troubleshooting logistical challenges, managing schedules, and ensuring compliance with operational procedures, all while working independently. This position requires exceptional communication skills and the ability to manage a dynamic workload in a remote setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage the daily dispatch of all fleet vehicles, optimizing routes for maximum efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Communicate proactively with drivers via phone, radio, or digital platforms to provide instructions, updates, and support.
• Track vehicle locations and statuses in real-time using dispatch software and GPS systems.
• Respond promptly to operational disruptions, re-routing vehicles and adjusting schedules as necessary.
• Maintain accurate dispatch records, including driver hours, vehicle assignments, and delivery confirmations.
• Liaise with clients and internal teams to coordinate pickup and delivery schedules and resolve any logistical issues.

Requirements

• Proven experience in fleet dispatch, logistics coordination, or a similar transportation management role.
• Proficiency with dispatch software, GPS tracking systems, and general computer applications.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment with minimal supervision.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously under pressure.
