About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Control Systems Engineer to contribute to their advanced energy management initiatives from their Mossel Bay office. This role focuses on the design, implementation, and optimization of sophisticated control systems that ensure the efficient and reliable operation of energy infrastructure. You will work with state-of-the-art technologies to develop automation solutions, improve system performance, and enhance safety across various energy assets. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in automation, PLC programming, and SCADA systems, with a passion for leveraging technology to solve complex energy challenges in a collaborative team setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and program PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and DCS (Distributed Control Systems) for energy applications.
- Implement and maintain SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems for monitoring and control.
- Develop and test control algorithms to optimize energy production, distribution, and consumption.
- Perform system integration, configuration, and commissioning of control hardware and software.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to control systems and instrumentation.
- Collaborate with process engineers and operational staff to define control strategies and requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in designing and implementing industrial control systems.
- Proficiency in programming logic controllers from major vendors (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell Automation).
- Experience with SCADA system configuration and HMI development.
- Strong understanding of process automation principles and instrumentation.
- Familiarity with communication protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, and Ethernet/IP.
