Livestock Supervisor - Cattle Ranching

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated and experienced Livestock Supervisor to manage their extensive cattle ranching operations in Bloemfontein, Free State . This role requires a hands‑on approach to animal husbandry, ensuring the health, welfare, and productivity of the herd. You will be responsible for the daily care of cattle, managing grazing lands, and overseeing farmhands. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual passionate about livestock management to contribute to a well‑established agricultural entity. You will work closely with farm management to implement best practices in breeding, feeding, and health management, ensuring the sustainable growth of the herd.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily feeding, watering, and general care of the cattle herd.
• Monitor animal health, identify signs of illness or injury, and administer basic treatments as needed.
• Implement and manage breeding programs to improve herd genetics and productivity.
• Manage grazing rotations and pasture maintenance to ensure sustainable land use.
• Supervise and train livestock handlers and farm workers, ensuring efficient operations.
• Maintain records of herd health, breeding, and production data.

Requirements

• Proven experience in cattle farming and livestock management.
• Strong knowledge of animal husbandry, nutrition, and veterinary care for cattle.
• Experience with cattle handling, including branding, dehorning, and movement.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a rural setting.
• Basic record-keeping and organizational skills.
• A passion for animal welfare and sustainable ranching practices.
