About the Role

Our client is seeking a knowledgeable and service-oriented University Librarian to manage and enhance their library resources and services at their campus in Bloemfontein. This role involves overseeing library operations, curating collections, providing research support, and fostering an environment conducive to learning and academic inquiry. You will play a key role in integrating library services with the university's teaching and research missions, ensuring students and faculty have access to vital information and resources. Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the university library, including staffing, budgeting, and resource allocation.


• Develop, curate, and maintain a diverse and relevant collection of physical and digital resources.


• Provide expert research assistance and information literacy instruction to students and faculty.


• Implement and manage library technology systems, including the Integrated Library System (ILS) and digital repositories.


• Promote library services and resources through outreach programs and user engagement initiatives.


• Collaborate with academic departments to support curriculum needs and research endeavors.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) or an equivalent qualification.


• Significant experience in academic library management and operations.


• Strong understanding of library technologies, digital resources, and information management best practices.


• Demonstrated ability in collection development, cataloging, and reference services.


• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
