About the Role
Our client, a leading professional rugby union club in Pretoria , is seeking an experienced and proactive Head Physiotherapist to lead their sports medicine department. This critical role involves managing player health, injury prevention, and rehabilitation to ensure the team's optimal performance throughout the season. You will work closely with coaches, medical staff, and athletes, providing expert care and implementing evidence-based therapeutic strategies. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of sports-related injuries for all players.
- Develop and implement individualized rehabilitation programs to facilitate safe and timely return to play.
- Conduct regular injury risk assessments and implement preventative strategies.
- Collaborate with the coaching staff to integrate injury prevention and management into training regimes.
- Manage the physiotherapy department's resources, equipment, and budget effectively.
- Maintain accurate and confidential medical records for all players.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in sports physiotherapy and sports medicine.
Requirements
- Degree in Physiotherapy, with post-graduate qualifications in sports physiotherapy or sports medicine highly desirable.
- Registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a physiotherapist in a professional team sport setting, preferably rugby union .
- Demonstrated expertise in manual therapy, exercise prescription, and injury rehabilitation techniques.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a demanding sports environment located in Pretoria .
