About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Chemical Plant Engineer to oversee and manage operations at their key facility in Richards Bay. This critical on-site role is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all chemical plant equipment and processes. You will lead a team of engineers and technicians, driving continuous improvement initiatives, managing maintenance activities, and ensuring strict adherence to safety and environmental regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the chemical plant, ensuring maximum uptime, efficiency, and adherence to production targets.
- Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance strategies, including preventative and predictive maintenance programs, to minimize equipment failures.
- Oversee plant safety programs, conduct regular safety audits, and ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations.
- Manage capital expenditure projects related to plant upgrades, expansions, and new equipment installations.
- Provide technical expertise and leadership to the engineering and operations teams, troubleshooting complex operational issues.
- Foster a culture of safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement within the plant.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in chemical plant operations and engineering, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- In‑depth knowledge of chemical processes, plant equipment, maintenance practices, and safety management systems.
- Proven track record in project management and execution of plant upgrades.
- Strong understanding of HSE regulations and best practices in the chemical industry.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
