Senior Power Systems Engineer

About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a highly accomplished Senior Power Systems Engineer to join their team on a fully remote basis, based out of Bloemfontein. This pivotal role involves the analysis, design, and optimization of complex electrical power systems for a range of critical infrastructure projects. You will leverage your deep expertise to ensure the reliability, stability, and efficiency of power grids and industrial power solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, and stability analysis.
• Design and specify power generation, transmission, and distribution systems.
• Develop protection schemes and coordinate relays for complex power networks.
• Perform feasibility studies and provide technical recommendations for power system upgrades and expansions.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership on power system projects.
• Ensure designs comply with national and international standards for power system engineering.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
• 8+ years of experience in electrical power system analysis and design.
• Proficiency with power system simulation software such as ETAP, PSS/E, or PowerWorld.
• In-depth knowledge of grid codes, protection systems, and substation design.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills suitable for a remote role.
• Proven ability to manage complex technical projects independently.
