Industrial Automation Engineer

About the Role

Our client, a significant industrial player in Klerksdorp , is seeking an experienced Industrial Automation Engineer to lead the integration and optimization of automated systems within their facilities. This role is critical for enhancing operational efficiency, reducing manual intervention, and ensuring the reliability of automated production lines. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automation solutions that drive productivity and maintain the highest standards of safety and quality. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in automation, robotics, and control systems, coupled with a proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and lead innovative engineering projects to successful completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, program, and commission automated systems, including PLCs, HMIs, and robotic cells.
• Develop and implement control strategies to optimize machine performance and production throughput.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues with automated equipment and systems.
• Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with all relevant safety standards and regulations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate automation solutions into existing manufacturing processes.
• Maintain detailed documentation of automation systems, including electrical schematics and programming code.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in industrial automation engineering.
• Proficiency in programming various PLC platforms (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and HMI development.
• Experience with robotic systems (e.g., FANUC, KUKA) and industrial network communication protocols.
• Strong understanding of control systems , instrumentation, and electrical principles.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure in Klerksdorp .
