Telecommunications Network Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated Telecommunications Network Engineer to join their infrastructure team in George, Western Cape . This role involves the design, implementation, and management of complex telecommunications networks, ensuring high availability and performance. You will play a key role in upgrading and expanding network capabilities to meet growing demands. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of network protocols, hardware, and software, with a proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve intricate technical issues in a timely manner, ensuring that our client's network remains robust, secure, and at the cutting edge of industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain robust and scalable telecommunications networks , including wired and wireless infrastructure.
• Monitor network performance, identify potential bottlenecks, and implement proactive solutions to ensure optimal uptime and efficiency.
• Configure and manage network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and access points.
• Conduct regular network audits and security assessments to identify vulnerabilities and implement necessary countermeasures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support new service rollouts and infrastructure upgrades.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in telecommunications network design, implementation, and management.
• In-depth knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF) and telecommunications technologies (VoIP, MPLS, LTE).
• Experience with network monitoring tools and performance analysis software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
