Mechanical Design Engineer - Renewable Energy

About the Role Our client is seeking an innovative Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to their pioneering work in the renewable energy sector, based in Sandton . This role is integral to the design, development, and optimization of mechanical components and systems for solar, wind, or other sustainable energy technologies. You will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to push the boundaries of energy efficiency and system reliability. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design, a passion for sustainability, and the ability to tackle complex engineering challenges in a rapidly evolving industry, contributing to a greener future through advanced engineering solutions. Key Responsibilities Design and develop mechanical components and systems for renewable energy applications, ensuring high performance and durability. Utilize CAD software and simulation tools (FEA, CFD) to analyze and optimize designs for structural integrity, thermal performance, and efficiency. Create detailed technical drawings, specifications, and Bill of Materials (BOMs) for manufacturing and assembly. Collaborate with electrical engineers, materials scientists, and project managers to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems. Oversee prototype development, testing, and validation of new designs, analyzing results to refine and improve. Stay updated on the latest advancements in renewable energy technology and mechanical engineering best practices. Requirements Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in mechanical design, with experience in renewable energy being a significant advantage. Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) and engineering simulation tools. Strong understanding of materials science, thermodynamics, and structural mechanics. Excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for sustainable technology. Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment and collaborate within a team.
