Geologist - Exploration & Production

About the Role Our client seeks a skilled Geologist with a focus on Exploration and Production to join their established team in Cape Town . This role is crucial for identifying and evaluating potential hydrocarbon reserves. You will analyze geological data, interpret seismic surveys, and contribute to the geological modeling of subsurface reservoirs. Working within a collaborative environment, you will play a key part in shaping the company's exploration strategies and ensuring the efficient development of resources in the Western Cape region and beyond. Key Responsibilities Analyze and interpret geological, geophysical, and well log data to identify and delineate potential hydrocarbon reservoirs. Develop and refine 3D geological models integrating various data sources. Prepare detailed geological reports and presentations for exploration planning and risk assessment. Collaborate with reservoir engineers and geophysicists to optimize drilling targets and production strategies. Participate in fieldwork and site visits as required for exploration and appraisal activities. Stay abreast of the latest geological technologies and methodologies relevant to the oil and gas industry. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Geology or Earth Sciences; Master's degree preferred. 5+ years of experience in geological exploration or development, preferably within the oil and gas sector. Proficiency in geological modeling software (e.g., Petrel, DecisionSpace). Strong understanding of seismic interpretation, sequence stratigraphy, and sedimentology.
