About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented and experienced Automotive Embedded Systems Engineer to join their innovative engineering department in Randburg . This hybrid role focuses on the design, development, and integration of embedded software and hardware for critical automotive control units, encompassing areas like engine management, body control, and infotainment systems. You will work in a dynamic team environment, contributing to the development of robust, real-time systems that enhance vehicle performance, safety, and user experience, bridging on-site collaboration with remote technical input. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test embedded software for automotive electronic control units (ECUs) using C/C++ and real-time operating systems (RTOS).
  • Integrate embedded systems with sensors, actuators, and communication networks (e.g., CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet).
  • Perform hardware/software co-design and debugging, ensuring seamless system functionality.
  • Develop and execute unit tests, integration tests, and system tests to validate embedded software performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical and systems engineers, to define requirements and resolve technical challenges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in embedded systems development, with a focus on automotive applications.
  • Strong proficiency in C and C++ programming for embedded systems.
  • Experience with microcontrollers, debugging tools (e.g., JTAG, oscilloscopes), and RTOS.
  • Familiarity with automotive communication protocols and industry standards (e.g., AUTOSAR).
