Resident Engineer - Construction Oversight

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Resident Engineer to provide on-site construction oversight for major infrastructure projects in Mossel Bay . This critical role ensures that all construction activities are carried out in strict accordance with approved designs, specifications, and quality standards. You will act as the primary point of contact on site, managing site supervision teams, resolving technical issues as they arise, and ensuring project timelines and budgets are maintained. Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage all on-site construction activities, ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications, and safety regulations.
• Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality of workmanship, and material compliance.
• Review and approve contractor submittitions, including method statements, shop drawings, and material data.
• Identify, document, and resolve site-specific technical issues and discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Manage the site supervision team, including engineers, inspectors, and surveyors, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
• Verify contractor claims for progress payments and manage variations to the contract.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Professional registration with ECSA as a Pr. Eng or Incorporated Engineer.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in construction supervision and project management, preferably on infrastructure projects.
• Proven ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and quality control procedures.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
