About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Artist to join their dynamic team in Nelspruit . This role bridges the gap between art and technology, focusing on optimizing art pipelines, developing tools, and solving complex technical challenges to empower the art team. You will play a crucial role in improving efficiency, performance, and visual quality across multiple projects. This position is ideal for an experienced artist with a strong programming or scripting background who thrives on problem-solving and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain art pipelines, tools, and workflows to enhance art team efficiency and productivity.
- Optimize 3D assets, shaders, and materials for real-time rendering engines, ensuring performance and visual quality.
- Collaborate with programmers and designers to implement and troubleshoot art-related features and systems.
- Create shaders, materials, and visual effects, and provide technical guidance on asset creation best practices.
- Support the art team by solving technical issues and providing training on new tools and processes.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a Technical Artist in the game development or VFX industry.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, MEL, or C#.
- Strong knowledge of 3D modeling, texturing, and animation software (e.g., Maya, 3ds Max, Substance Painter).
- Experience with real-time rendering engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity) and shader development.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong communication skills for working in a hybrid team .
