Senior Drilling Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Drilling Engineer to join their operational team in the Benoni area. This is a critical on-site role, demanding direct involvement in the planning, execution, and optimization of drilling operations. You will be responsible for designing well plans, managing drilling risks, and ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective completion of wells. Your extensive experience and technical expertise will be crucial in achieving operational excellence and contributing to the company's exploration and development objectives in this region.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and plan complex drilling wells , including well trajectory, casing programs, and drilling fluid systems.
• Prepare detailed drilling procedures, cost estimates, and project timelines.
• Supervise drilling operations on the rig site, ensuring adherence to safety standards and operational plans.
• Manage and mitigate drilling hazards, such as kicks, lost circulation, and stuck pipe.
• Analyze drilling performance data and implement improvements to optimize efficiency and reduce costs.
• Ensure compliance with all company policies, safety regulations, and environmental standards.

Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in drilling engineering , with significant hands-on rig site experience.
• Strong technical knowledge of drilling equipment, drilling fluids, cementing, and well control procedures.
• Proficiency in drilling simulation software and well planning tools.
• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a closely related field.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound technical decisions under pressure.
• Commitment to safety and a strong understanding of HSE best practices in a field environment.
