Technical Artist - Game Development

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Technical Artist to join their innovative game development studio in East London . In this critical role, you will bridge the gap between art and programming, ensuring that the visual elements of games are optimized for performance while meeting artistic quality standards. You will work closely with both the art and engineering teams to implement art assets, develop workflows, and troubleshoot technical issues related to graphics and engine performance. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the creation of cutting-edge video games within a collaborative, office-based environment in the Arts & Entertainment industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and optimize 2D and 3D art assets within the game engine (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine).
• Develop and maintain art pipelines, tools, and workflows to improve efficiency and quality.
• Collaborate with game designers and programmers to define technical art requirements and solutions.
• Create and optimize shaders, materials, and visual effects to achieve desired artistic styles and performance targets.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to art assets, rendering, and engine performance.
• Profile and optimize game performance, focusing on frame rates, memory usage, and asset loading times.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Technical Artist in the game development industry, or a related role with transferable skills.
• Proficiency with industry-standard game engines such as Unity or Unreal Engine .
• Strong understanding of 3D modeling, texturing, rigging, and animation principles.
• Experience with shader development and material creation (e.g., HLSL, GLSL).
• Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, C#) for tool development is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, office-based team environment in East London .
