Senior Civil Engineer - Coastal and Marine Projects

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Civil Engineer to lead their coastal and marine projects division in East London . This role is pivotal in managing the design and implementation of a range of projects, including harbour infrastructure, coastal protection works, and related civil structures. You will be responsible for technical leadership, project management, and client liaison, ensuring the successful delivery of complex engineering solutions in a challenging marine environment. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the conceptualization, design, and execution of coastal engineering projects, including breakwaters, seawalls, and jetties.
• Manage the structural design of harbour facilities, such as quays, berths, and associated infrastructure.
• Conduct wave and current analysis, sediment transport studies, and coastal processes modeling.
• Prepare detailed design reports, contract documents, and construction supervision plans.
• Ensure compliance with maritime regulations, environmental standards, and engineering best practices.
• Mentor and guide a team of civil and structural engineers working on marine projects.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, with a specialization in Coastal or Structural Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA as a Pr. Eng. is essential.
• Over 10 years of progressive experience in coastal and marine civil engineering projects.
• Proven expertise in the design of marine structures and understanding of oceanographic forces.
• Proficiency with specialized software for coastal and structural analysis (e.g., MIKE by DHI, Delft3D, SAP2000).
• Strong project management, leadership, and client management skills.
