Process Optimization Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent Process Optimization Engineer to join their established chemical production facility in Rustenburg . This role is essential for enhancing the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of our existing manufacturing processes. You will be responsible for analyzing operational data, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing strategic improvements that drive cost savings and productivity gains. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mindset and a passion for continuous improvement, working within a hybrid model that balances essential on-site presence with flexibility. Key Responsibilities

• Analyze plant operational data to identify areas for process improvement and efficiency gains.
• Develop and implement strategies for optimizing reaction conditions, separation techniques, and material handling.
• Conduct root cause analysis for process deviations and equipment failures, proposing corrective actions.
• Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of process improvements.
• Design and manage pilot studies or plant trials to test new process modifications and technologies.
• Create and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and process documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least 4 years of experience in process engineering, with a focus on optimization and troubleshooting in a chemical plant environment.
• Proficiency in statistical analysis and process modeling tools.
• Strong understanding of chemical plant operations, equipment, and safety procedures.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid remote and on-site capacity.
