Information Security Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a proactive and skilled Information Security Engineer to join their technology team, supporting operations from Paarl . This role is crucial in designing, implementing, and maintaining the security infrastructure that protects the organization's digital assets. You will work on deploying and managing security solutions, responding to security events, and ensuring the overall resilience of our systems against cyber threats. Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage security technologies, including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection solutions.
• Implement and maintain security configurations for servers, networks, and cloud environments.
• Monitor security systems and respond to security alerts and incidents in a timely manner.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and assist in penetration testing activities.
• Develop and maintain security documentation, including policies, procedures, and configurations.
• Collaborate with IT operations to ensure security is integrated into all infrastructure changes.
• Stay current with emerging security threats and technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in an information security engineering role.
• Strong knowledge of network security principles and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP).
• Experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in configuring and managing security appliances and software.
• Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation.
