Field Service Technician - Power Generation

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Field Service Technician specializing in Power Generation equipment to join their team in Mahikeng . This hands-on role involves the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of power generation units at client sites. You will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of critical energy infrastructure. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to delivering exceptional service in a demanding operational environment within the North West province.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and diagnostics on power generation equipment (e.g., turbines, generators, diesel engines).
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues affecting equipment performance.
• Install and commission new power generation systems according to specifications.
• Read and interpret technical manuals , blueprints, and schematics to guide repair and maintenance activities.
• Respond promptly to emergency service calls to minimize downtime.
• Document all service activities, including repairs, parts used, and recommendations for future maintenance.

Requirements

• Trade qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (e.g., Fitter & Turner, Electrician).
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in servicing and repairing power generation equipment .
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, including hydraulics and control systems.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and travel extensively within the region.
• Excellent diagnostic skills and a commitment to safety protocols in a field service setting.
