About the Role

Our client seeks a skilled Marine Electronics Technician to join their team based in Mossel Bay. This role is essential for the installation, maintenance, and repair of sophisticated electronic systems on vessels. You will work with navigation equipment, communication systems, radar, sonar, and other specialized marine electronics. The ideal candidate possesses a strong technical aptitude, meticulous attention to detail, and a passion for the maritime industry. This hands-on position requires you to work in various marine environments, ensuring the safety and operational efficiency of vessels operating from Mossel Bay and surrounding coastal areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, calibrate, and test marine electronic equipment, including GPS, VHF radios, autopilots, and fish finders.
• Diagnose and repair faults in marine electronic systems, utilizing specialized test equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance and inspections to ensure the optimal functioning of all installed equipment.
• Troubleshoot complex wiring and system integration issues on vessels.
• Ensure all installations and repairs comply with maritime safety standards and regulations.
• Provide technical support and training to vessel crews on the operation of electronic systems.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Marine Electronics Technician or similar role.
• Strong understanding of marine navigation, communication, and safety systems.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and soldering equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and efficiently.
• Physical ability to work on boats and in potentially challenging marine environments in Mossel Bay.
