Electrical Engineer - Power Systems

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Electrical Engineer specializing in Power Systems to join their team in Benoni . This role is central to the design, analysis, and implementation of robust power infrastructure, ensuring reliability and efficiency for various industrial and commercial applications. You will be instrumental in supporting the company's growth and operational excellence within the vibrant Gauteng province. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of power distribution, protection, and generation technologies, coupled with a passion for engineering excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical power systems, including substations, distribution networks, and protection schemes.
• Perform power system studies, such as load flow, short circuit, stability, and protection coordination analysis.
• Specify electrical equipment and components, ensuring compatibility and adherence to standards.
• Oversee the installation, commissioning, and testing of power system components and assets.
• Ensure all designs and projects comply with relevant industry codes, regulations, and safety standards.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for existing power systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, with a specialization in Power Systems.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in electrical power system design, analysis, and implementation.
• Proficiency in power system analysis software (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E, DigSILENT PowerFactory).
• Strong understanding of substation design , protection relays, and switchgear.
• Experience with renewable energy integration or microgrid technologies is a plus.
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex technical data.
