Energy Trader - Commodities

About the Role

Our client is seeking an astute and analytical Energy Trader to join their remote trading desk, based remotely but working closely with the team originating from Centurion . This role is critical for optimizing our energy portfolio by executing profitable trades in various commodity markets, including electricity, natural gas, and associated derivatives. You will be responsible for market analysis, risk management, and developing trading strategies to maximize returns while adhering to strict risk parameters. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, data-driven environment and possess a deep understanding of energy market dynamics.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor global energy markets and news, identifying trading opportunities in real-time.
• Develop and execute short-term and long-term trading strategies for energy commodities .
• Manage trading positions, P&A, and exposure within approved risk limits.
• Analyze market data, price trends, and economic factors to forecast market movements.
• Collaborate with risk management and analytics teams to refine trading strategies and models.
• Maintain accurate trading records and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in energy trading, commodity trading, or financial markets.
• Proven track record of successful trading in electricity or natural gas markets.
• Strong analytical skills, quantitative aptitude, and proficiency in financial modeling .
• Deep understanding of derivatives, futures, and options pricing.
• Excellent communication and decision-making abilities in high-pressure situations.
